There was a lot of negativity surrounding Lego in the 80s. You couldn't find a bus station toilet that didn't have "An impressive Lego collection is no substitute for a wife" or "There's more to life than Lego" scribbled on the walls in faeces, blood or worse. God knows why though. It was rumoured that it was all started by Mechano, but I used to live near a guy who worked for Mechano and he said it wasn't them.
